Research at the intersection of satellite-based InSAR – geotechnical engineering and ML
The webinar will focus on Dr. Maral’s research at the intersection of Earth Observation (satellite InSAR), machine learning, and geotechnical engineering for monitoring critical infrastructure like tailings dams. Additionally, it will explore cutting-edge EO and ML research in other applications such as agriculture and sustainable finance.
Dr. Maral is a researcher at the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford. Her research is on using EO/ML for infrastructure monitoring, and have received an award in the category for Data Science and AI at COP28 from the Prototypes for humanity, an Industrial Fellowship from the UK’s 1851 Royal Commission and a Keeley Senior Scholar of Wadham College, University of Oxford. She is also a senior EO consultant the Satellite Applications Catapult for the last 8 years, previously Remote Sensing Analyst at Airbus Defense and Space. Maral is alos the co-chair for the Technology Exploration Interest Group of Committee on Earth Observation Satellites, which is the main international coordination body for civic space.
